In this interactive workshop participants will walk through the beginning stages of creating a permaculture design by observing and mapping layers of existing conditions. Think sun, water, infrastructure, use patterns, soil, existing vegetation etc. This is a critical and exciting stage in the design process where we begin to understand what nature is already offering us so we can work with it more closely to realize our goals in the landscape. Site assessment is where we can quiet the overwhelm the question “what should I do in my yard?” When you learn to read the landscape, the answers to that question often arise naturally.
This workshop will provide participants with the tools to grasp and understand a project (at any stage) holistically. They will walk away with prompts to help articulate their goals and first hand experience mapping existing conditions and patterns using permaculture design strategies.
This workshop is part one 1 of 3 in our introduction to permaculture design series that spans fall-spring. Each workshop is valuable on its own, but it is highly encouraged you sign up for all three if you can. Participants who sign up for more than one workshop in the series will receive 20% refund for each additional workshop they attend.
This workshop will be held on location at a home in Sandwich.
We have a sliding-scale fee system. The cost for us to bring you the workshop is $35. If you feel you can help out another person to come, you can choose to pay $45. If you can't afford the full cost, you are welcome to pay $25.
