Adding compost is one of the best things you can do to improve your garden’s productivity. Compost greatly increases microbes in your soil and microbes break down nutrients and makes them available to your plants.
We all have a number of household and yard waste that can be composted instead of going to the landfill where it becomes a problem. There are many different ways to compost and we are sure you can find that will work with your lifestyle and situation.
We will demonstrate various methods of composting such as:
Sheet mulching - aka, sheet composting or lasagna gardening
Hot bin composting
Cold bin composting
Indoor hot composting
Tumbler composting
Leaf molding composting
Vermicomposting (Composting with worms)
This workshop will feature sheet mulching (aka lasagna gardening) as a hands-on activity so you can go home this fall and recreate the system and your garden will be ready to plant in spring without further preparation.
